The council will then have to put a 2 hour waiting time on the Asda part of the car park to stop the people who work in town from parking there all day. Or will the council then charge for this car park? I think not as Asda will not put up with people having to pay to shop at their store!

The council could argue the Pembroke copes with being charged for parking, but look how busy the main street gets. The town centre is all most dead, the council should be trying to encourage people to visit it not discourage them.

I think we are all missing the point here. Pembrokeshire County Council has no interest whatsoever in what might be good or bad for the town only the fact that they can make more money off residents and visitors who use the local facilities. If they can't squeeze it out of the residents then they will increase buisiness rates.

Everywhere you look more and more restricted parking zones and Resident Parking schemes are being introduced with more and more Double yellow lines springing up. We have had Resident Parking in our street and it is a total farce.. A tax of £30 levied by the Council for the privilage of parking your own car on the public Highway.

The Council have been written to by the Police stating that policing of such schemes is not a priority neither do they have the manpower to enforce such schemes yet the Council couldn't care less.. they confirm that their only responsability is for painting the white lines and putting the signes up, and collecting the money (of course) and issuing the permits. If you want to park in your own street, you have to pay up. If you have more that one vehicle in your household its tough luck.

First they say you can buy additional permits, then they change their mind, then they arrange a meeting with our ward councillor who offered to get a second permit for us, then when the Council and Councillors when taken to task over the validity of such offers they denied it ever happened. Contacting the Ombudsman for assistance to resolve the issues only gets you branded as a vexsatious complainant by the Council which they then decide immediatly and without notice to implement their "corparate policy" ( a complete let out for them ) and refuse to answer comunications regarding the subject.

The lesson here is that Pembrokeshire County Council officers sit in their ivory towers on good salaries and better pensions than the majority of us put together and don't seem to have any concept of whats happening in the real world and the damage to our fragile towns economy charging for parking in and around town will cause.

Please do not apply parking charges in Pembroke Dock. There are very few shops as it is and applying charges will lead to more of what we have to close. Pembroke Dock as a shopping destination has very little going for it, and there is no need to charge for parking. Name: Jan Cook
