MILFORD HAVEN PORT AUTHORITY
CONFIRMS NEW BOARD APPOINTMENT

Milford Haven Port Authority has welcomed the appointment of a new non-executive member to its Board of Directors.

The Secretary of State for Transport, The Rt Hon Geoff Hoon MP, has confirmed the appointment of Paddy Walsh who replaces the former General Manager of Murco, Nigel Tranter.

As UK Ports Manager for Irish Ferries, Paddy has over 35 years of experience in the industry, working in ship and operations management across a number of UK ports.

Paddy has a strong affinity with the port of Milford Haven having been responsible for managing Irish Ferries’ investment in and re-development of their UK port operations in both Holyhead and Pembroke Dock during the 1990’s.

Following a restructuring of the company around that time, Paddy also served as the General Manager for the vessel “Isle of Innishmore” and operations at Pembroke Dock and Rosslare, relocating to Pembrokeshire in the late 1990’s.

Currently responsible for Irish Ferries’ operations in both Pembroke Dock and Holyhead, Paddy brings to the Board valuable commercial experience of the industry as well as a sound understanding of the local context in which the Authority is operating.

Chairman of the Milford Haven Port Authority Board David Benson, is delighted to be welcoming such an experienced Director to the Authority.

“Paddy’s career has been linked with the development of this port in recent years, as he took a major part in the development of Ferry Terminal operations at Pembroke Dock,” he said. “I’m sure that he will be a valuable asset contributing to the future direction of the organisation, especially at a time when the Authority is keen to develop further strategic partnerships with Ireland.”
