Cooperation trough the
generations starts in Pembroke Dock
Today the Mayor of Pembroke Dock Councillor Ron Watts was at Apley
Lodge, Pembroke Dock (22nd October 2008) to witness the start of a
unique program of cooperation between the generations.
A few months ago Councillor Ron Watts, Mayor of Pembroke Dock, visited
Apley Lodge residents to congratulate them on winning a competition to
promote the Olympics and Paralympics which are to be held in London in
2012. The residents had put together a Promotional Mural and had
received a letter of commendation from Lord Coe, the Chairman of the
Organising Committee. As a result of that visit Councillor Watts made
contact with the Pembroke Dock Youth Centre to see if the Winning Mural
could be displayed there. Following that visit, Matt Done, the Youth
Centre Leader thought it would be an opportunity to get some young
people to work with residents of Apley Lodge to create another mural.
About 9 young people from Special Use of Language Group of the Pembroke
Dock Community School who are also members of the Youth Club visited
Apley Lodge to start the preparatory work to create a new mural with the
residents.
Items for the Mural have
been kindly donated by Focus Do It All and Tiles R Us at Neyland. |
